Students from Price Middle School in south Atlanta and volunteers from Bank of America planted trees Thursday to celebrate the launch of a study on the benefits of urban trees.

The event is the first of several tree plantings to be held at schools across Atlanta as conservation organization American Forests gathers data to increase understanding of the value of urban forest ecosystems.

Organizers say trees and other greenery help reduce symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and reduce stress levels.
