4:00 p.m. In a press briefing with his Coronavirus Task Force, President Donald Trump advised the nation to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people to combat COVID-19.

3:52 p.m. A coronavirus vaccine test opens with first doses administered in Seattle to healthy volunteers. The speed of vaccine development is "unprecedented," however it will be 12 to 18 months before a vaccine will be made available to the public.

3:48 p.m. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine delays the Democratic presidential primary until June 2. Mail-in voting will be available until June 2 as well.

2:56 p.m. Mayor Joe Goethals announces "shelter-in-place" directive for nine counties in the San Francisco Bay Area will be placed under a shelter-in-place directive by public health officials. This order will close virtually all businesses and direct residents to remain at home, reports LA Times.

2:18 p.m. Idris Elba announces testing positive for coronavirus.

2:07 p.m. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces Canada is closing its borders to people who are not citizens or permanent residents as outbreak in North America worsens.

1:17 p.m. The White House releases press statement from G7 leaders saying that "the COVID-19 pandemic is a human tragedy and a global health crisis, which also poses major risks for the world economy," and that international cooperation will be required.

1:07 p.m. First coronavirus death reported in South Carolina, an elderly person from a nursing home in Lexington.

12:35 p.m. Kentucky and Indiana join New York, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio and Rhode Island on list of states banning indoor dining at bars and restaurants.

12:10 p.m. Official number of cases reported in Georgia rises to 121, a 22% increase from Sunday.
