More than two dozen Apple laptops and computers were stolen Tuesday from a northwest Atlanta charter school, and police asked for the public’s help in finding the thieves.

The technology stolen from KIPP Atlanta Collegiate on Anderson Avenue and damage to the building was estimated at $43,000, school officials told Channel 2 Action News. The thefts included 28 MacBook Pro laptops and three desktop computers. New base model MacBook Pros can start around $1,200, according to Apple’s website.

Police believe five people in black hoodies crawled inside the building after climbing onto a second-story roof and breaking a window. They tore locks from doors and, once inside, the thieves cleared desktops and cabinets of the computers, leaving only Apple monitors.

It was not the first time KIPP has been the target of computer thefts. The same lab was broken into several times last school year.
