Three people were injured in Buckhead early Sunday morning after someone fired at them while they were standing on a sidewalk, according to police.

Investigators are still trying to track down the gunman who fled the scene in a white vehicle, according to department spokesman Sgt. Jarius Daughterty.

An Atlanta police officer heard gunshots ring out in the area of Pharr Road and North Fulton Drive about 2 a.m., Daugherty said. When the officer went to investigate the shots, he found a woman with a gunshot wound to her right leg. She was alert when she was taken to a hospital, Daugherty said.

Police later learned that two men were also at the hospital. Both had gunshot wounds to the abdomen, but were stable, Daugherty said.

Investigators said a white vehicle with two people inside pulled up to the intersection and stopped. One man got out of the passenger side and opened fire toward “several people” on the sidewalk, according to Daugherty.

The circumstances that motivated the shooting are not clear. An investigation in ongoing.
