Georgia’s tax collections in November rose about 4 percent compared with the same month last year thanks to a surge in individual income tax revenue and sales tax receipts.

Gov. Nathan Deal said Thursday that the state collected about $1.46 billion in November, an increase of about $60 million compared with the same time last year.

Tax collections from the start of the fiscal year have jumped about 5 percent compared with the same period last year.

The driving force behind the jump was a roughly 6 percent jump in sales tax collections and a 7.7 percent boost in income tax revenue compared with November 2013.
