Metro Atlanta could see thunderstorms this week

Put away your flip flops and pack a poncho. That nice weather you enjoyed early Tuesday is expected to make room for showers.
There is a chances of scattered storms entering the metro area about midnight, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
“So after sunset, a few isolated showers [are] possible in and around metro Atlanta and North Georgia,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said. “But I’m going to keep that rain chance just at 20 percent.”

The expected rains are a drastic change from earlier with Atlanta tying the record high of 75 degrees set in 1943, Channel 2 reported.
Temps were 64 degrees in Atlanta, 62 in Blairsville and 58 in Griffin just before 10 p.m.

Heavy rains aren’t expected until later this week. An 80 percent chance of rains is predicted for Thursday and Friday. Only a 30 percent chance is expected Saturday before chances increase back to 80 percent Sunday.
