A video of a Florida man trapping an alligator in a trash can has gone viral.
Eugene Bozzi, 26, posted the video on his Instagram with the caption, “Crazy day in Florida,” according to reports.
Bozzi is seen in the video cornering the gator using his trash can, eventually capturing it and standing it upright with the reptile trapped inside.
“It was spur-of-the-moment thinking,” Bozzi told the New York Post of his gator drama, which happened at his home Tuesday in Mount Dora.
Bozzi, a Philadelphia native and Army veteran, told the Post that he was talking with his nephew in the garage when his daughter, who was riding a bike outside, said, “Hey, this big alligator just hissed at me!”
“I went over there, and it was bigger than me. There were other people’s kids out there, also. Military instinct kicked in — and, you know, ‘protect at all costs,’” Bozzi recounted to the Post.
After the crazy capture, the gator was released by Bozzi down a grassy hill, where it scurried into the bushes, the Post reported.
The viral encounter has garnered tons of attention.
“This is the most Florida thing I’ve seen in months,” wrote one Twitter user.
Another added, “This Florida man is better at protecting the people than Ron DeSantis.”
“This Florida Man has won the internet for the Month of September,” exclaimed another commenter.
