A deputy was critically injured and a suspect was killed after a domestic incident led to a shootout in Jackson County on Friday night, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call about 9:20 p.m. in the 6400 block of Ga. 124, according to the GBI. The 911 call concerned the homeowners wanting a non-resident removed from their home.

One deputy was injured and taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the GBI. No information on her specific injuries were provided.

The other deputy returned fire, striking and killing the suspect, the GBI said. The suspect was identified as Jessica Worsham, 43, of Hoschton. An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab.
