Roswell police are searching for a man they believe killed his girlfriend and then dumped her body in a ditch near a popular walking trail, where she was found on Christmas Eve.

Roberto Dominguez Soto, 49, is wanted on murder charges. He is also being sought by Interpol on firearms charges, officials said.

Around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Roswell officers were called to the area of Azalea Drive near Atlanta Street after a passerby reported seeing a possibly deceased person, officials said. The location is along the Chattahoochee River near Riverside Park and not far from St. Andrew Catholic Church.

When police arrived, they found the woman near the road and confirmed she had died, according to authorities. She was identified as Blanca Sauer, 47, of Sandy Springs.

Investigators noticed she had suffered at least one gunshot wound, and they believe she was killed at another location. It’s not clear if she died the same day.

A GoFundMe campaign is raising money to help cover Sauer’s funeral expenses. Damon Sauer, who posted to Facebook that he is her estranged husband, said the funds will also help family “to return her to her home in Mexico.”

Family and friends described Blanca Sauer as an entrepreneur, friend, aunt, mother, grandmother and daughter, special to many.

“She strived to achieve her goals and never gave up on her dreams,” the GoFundMe said. “She owned a restaurant that she never gave up on and built from the ground up. She was kind to everyone, treated people with respect, helped those less fortunate, and was always fun to be around.”
