A Roswell police officer shot a man after the two got into a fight at a car dealership early Wednesday, officials said.

The GBI was asked to investigate the incident, which happened at Regal Nissan in the 1000 block of Holcomb Bridge Road, according to Roswell police.

Just after midnight, the officer was on “proactive patrol” when he came across a “suspicious” man yelling along a road near the dealership while his vehicle was left running by the entrance, the GBI stated.

After the officer pulled into the dealership, Christopher Bell, 33, approached the officer, who was still inside his vehicle, leading to a fight, according to the state agency.

“Bell and the officer began to struggle, which led to the officer deploying his Taser,” the GBI stated. “The Taser was ineffective and the officer eventually shot Bell.”

Bell was taken to a hospital and is said to be stable, police spokesperson Tim Lupo said.

The officer was not injured during the incident, which shut down eastbound Holcomb Bridge Road between Dogwood Road and Old Dogwood Road for several hours.

Once the GBI investigation is completed, the case file will be given to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.

It was the third officer-involved shooting the state agency had been asked to investigate in 2025. All three happened in metro Atlanta over the past few days.

Early Sunday, the GBI said 27-year-old Austin Abel exchanged gunfire with a Hall County deputy while fleeing a traffic stop and he was also found to be under the influence of drugs.

The following night, a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy was injured and a suspect was killed after they shot each other outside a Krispy Kreme store in southwest Atlanta. Investigators later discovered the suspect had shot two employees at a rental store in that area of the city while attempting to rob it as well, officials said.
