Gwinnett County police have found the suspected getaway car of a man accused of fatally shooting his wife over the weekend, though the suspect remains at large, officials announced Thursday.

At about 7 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to a residence on Creeldale Drive after a 911 operator was told that a woman was suffering from a gunshot wound inside, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Lt. Michele Pihera said. When officers and county firefighters arrived at the home, they found the woman dead.

She was identified by police as 31-year-old Jackmerly Jouselis Hernandez-Rodriguez of Norcross.

At the scene, police vehicles illuminated the night sky outside the house, where lights from a Christmas tree were still visible in an upstairs window. Authorities said other witnesses were at the house, located near Lucky Shoals Park and Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

Police said the suspect drove away from the home in a 2016 black Toyota Corolla.

During the investigation, police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Victor Jose Yaraure Morillo, who fled the residence in a 2016 black Toyota Corolla that is missing a passenger-side hubcap. On Thursday, the vehicle was recovered but was unoccupied, Gwinnett County police Cpl. Juan Madiedo said in a statement.

“Crime scene investigators, alongside detectives, are currently processing the vehicle. Victor Jose Yaraure Morillo is still at large,” Madiedo said.

Morillo and Hernandez-Rodriguez lived in the home and were divorced, officials said, though it was unclear how recently.

According to authorities, Morillo is about 5-foot-6 and 110 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. Police had stated earlier that he was 4-foot-11. He is wanted on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Victor Jose Yaraure Morillo is accused of killing his ex-wife Saturday night inside their home in Gwinnett County, police said.
