An officer fired shots toward a vehicle that refused to stop early Monday in northwest Atlanta, police said.

But by Monday afternoon, that driver remained on the run.

About 2:44 a.m., the officer attempted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Moores Mill Road, police said.

“While approaching the vehicle during the stop, the officer observed the occupants of the vehicle discarding items,” police said. “The vehicle then fled from the officer.”

As the vehicle left the scene, the officer fired at least one shot. Investigators do not believe the car or driver was struck.

No additional details were released, including a description of the car or suspect.
