A man died Monday after being stabbed in downtown Atlanta, authorities said.

Atlanta police responded just before 10 a.m. to the 500 block of Marietta Street about a person stabbed. The area is just south of North Avenue and Georgia Tech’s campus.

When officers arrived, they found the man with a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified as 41-year-old Emerson Gooden by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Homicide investigators were called to the scene to determine the circumstances around the killing. No other information was released.
