A man accused in a fatal shooting in Clayton County was arrested Friday, officials said.

Javin Alejandro Fonseca, 20, was booked into the Clayton jail and is facing a charge of malice murder, online jail records show. According to the sheriff’s office, Riverdale police obtained a warrant for his arrest following a fatal shooting on Jan. 14 in the area of Ga. 138.

Police responded to the scene and found a 16-year-old dead from multiple gunshot wounds to his back, the sheriff’s office said. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has contacted Riverdale police for more information about the shooting.

Detectives with the police department were able to identify Fonseca as a suspect, and the Clayton County sheriff’s office subsequently placed him on the “Most Wanted” list, authorities said.

It wasn’t long before Fonseca was located at a residence in Forest Park, but law enforcement said it wasn’t until Friday that he was booked into jail. His bond had not been set by Saturday afternoon.
