A Vienna mother has been charged with murder after the discovery of human remains in Cordele, according to the GBI.

Keara Cotton, 27, also was charged with concealing the death of another and cruelty to children in the second degree, the GBI said Tuesday in a news release.

The remains, which will be sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for identification, were found near East Sixteenth Avenue, according to the GBI.

Cotton’s son, Jayceon Mathis, 4, was reported missing by family members, who said they have not seen Jayceon for months, according to the GBI.

On Saturday, the Vienna Police Department asked for assistance to find Jayceon.
