A building on several acres of a Hall County winery was charred in a fire Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The three-story building at Sweet Acre Farms Winery on Bill Wilson Road in north Hall County caught on fire around 1 p.m. Grass surrounding the building also burned as firefighters worked to extinguish the bulk of the flames.
Due to the lack of access to water at the vineyard, an additional tanker from Habersham County was requested for assistance. The fire was contained by around 3:30 p.m., but officials said crews remained at the scene to put out hot spots and monitor the building.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the county’s fire marshal’s office, according to the fire department.
Sweet Acre sells wine at several stores, mostly throughout northeast Georgia, and they have a separate tasting room in Helen. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reached out to the business for comment.
