Camden County deputies shot a man who is accused of going on a “shooting rampage” near I-95 Wednesday that left two men injured and caused damage to a multitude of property, officials said.

Rodney Rauls Roundtree, 55, was at a home in the 1700 block of Kinlaw Road when he got into an argument with a man, grabbed a gun and shot him, according to the GBI. Roundtree then walked out of the residence and down Kinlaw Road, where he shot at “multiple people working at a substation, hitting numerous vehicles,” the state agency said.

The GBI said Roundtree kept walking down the quiet street, home to dozens of residences and a few churches. Soon after, he spotted a van driving on the road. As the vehicle got close to him, Roundtree fired several shots, injuring the driver, officials said.

The suspect then arrived at the intersection of Kinlaw Road and Harriets Bluff Road, where he met responding law enforcement, according to the GBI. The area is located a short distance from the interstate.

Roundtree then started “shooting at the officers,” who “returned fire” and injured him, the GBI said. Roundtree and the two shooting victims — the van driver and man struck at the home — were all taken to the hospital. The GBI has not provided specifics on their injuries.

Officials said Roundtree is set to face several charges. The GBI will investigate the gunfire before giving the case file to the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.

It was the fourth officer-involved shooting in Georgia this year and the second Wednesday, after a Roswell police officer shot a man at a car dealership earlier that morning, officials said.

Two other such shootings happened a few days earlier.

The GBI said 27-year-old Austin Abel exchanged gunfire with a Hall County deputy while fleeing a traffic stop Sunday.

The following night, a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy was injured and a suspect was killed after they shot each other outside a Krispy Kreme store in southwest Atlanta. That suspect also shot two employees at a rental store while attempting to rob it as well, investigators would later learn.
