A woman was found dead Thursday morning along a busy stretch of Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta’s Sylvan Hills neighborhood.

The victim was lying in a parking lot near the intersection of Metropolitan and Langford parkways when officers arrived shortly after 2:30 a.m., according to Atlanta police. She had been shot at least once.

The area is home to several gas stations, fast-food restaurants and the Crossroads Shopping Center. Crime scene tape crossed the parking lot of the mostly vacant shopping center while investigators were on scene Thursday morning.

No other details about the shooting, including the name of the victim, have been released.
