One man died and another was injured in a shooting at a Clarkston shopping plaza early Wednesday morning, according to police.
The incident happened in the parking lot of the Brockett Pointe shopping center at 1353 Brockett Road around 4 a.m., Clarkston police spokesman Sgt. Dustin Bulcher said. The center houses a fast-food restaurant called Food to Go and Strokers, an adult entertainment venue, which are open to 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., respectively. Police did not say if either victim was connected to one of the businesses.
When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old man who had been shot in the leg, Bulcher said. Further investigation led them to a parked vehicle in the same lot, where they found 37-year-old Jimmy Leon Jr. shot in the chest.
Despite life-saving efforts by police, Leon did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Bulcher said. The second victim was rushed to a hospital. His condition was not released.
No other details have been made available as detectives continue to investigate what led up to the shooting.
