East Point police are investigating two deadly shootings over the weekend, one at a recording studio and one at a park.

On Sunday, a man identified as 31-year-old Tamunomiete Jim-Lawson was shot and killed at a home functioning as a recording studio in the 1300 block of Cleveland Avenue around 6:30 p.m., the police department said on Facebook. While details were limited, police confirmed 28-year-old Jaleel Akeem Wulu was taken into custody at the scene.

“There is no threat to the public and the persons involved knew each other,” the department said in the post. “More information will be released as it comes available.”

Just after 7 p.m. Saturday, a man was shot at Sykes Park in the Meadowlark area by several gunmen in a black vehicle, East Point police spokesperson Capt. Allyn Glover said. The victim, who was not identified, was found nearby on Boulder Way with multiple gunshot wounds. He died shortly after being taken to a hospital, Glover said.

Witnesses told police they were at the park when a group of unknown people pulled up in a black vehicle, got out and started shooting at them as they ran away through the woods toward a neighborhood, Glover said. Once the victims got to the other side of the brush on Boulder Way, they realized one of them had been shot multiple times.

Police did not release any other details about the incident.
