A Hall County man was arrested last week after being accused of giving a juvenile alcohol and raping her late last month, authorities said.

Jose Tomas Pedro, 21, of Gainesville, was arrested last Thursday on counts of rape and furnishing alcohol to a minor, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies began investigating May 31 when they were called to Northeast Georgia Medical Center about 10:45 a.m., the release said. A girl, whose age was not provided, was being treated following the alleged sexual assault.

The girl told deputies that she met Pedro on social media, the release said. One of Pedro’s relatives drove him to pick up the victim in her neighborhood before dropping them off at Pedro’s home on Georgia Avenue, deputies said.

That is where he’s accused of providing the child alcohol and raping her during the early morning hours of May 31.

Pedro’s relative picked the two up later that morning and drove the child home, deputies said. Investigators said the relative does not face charges since they were “unaware of what had occurred.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, Pedro remained in the Hall County jail without bond, records show. In addition to his charges, he has a hold placed on him by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
