A 79-year-old Lawrenceville woman was killed Friday afternoon in an Oconee County wreck that involved a FedEx driver, authorities said.

State troopers were dispatched to the two-vehicle crash on Ga. 316 about 3:50 p.m., the Georgia State Patrol said. According to investigators, Rebecca Kenerly tried crossing the highway from South Burson Avenue when her Buick Verano was broadsided by a Ford T-250 transit van driven by a FedEx contractor.

Police determined the van’s driver, a 22-year-old from Union Point, was traveling east on Ga. 316 when Kenerly drove into his path.

The Gwinnett County woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the GSP said. The fatal collision is still being investigated, but no charges are expected.
