Cellphone video obtained by Channel 2 Action News appears to show two people BASE jumping off a crane in Midtown.

Oliver Oden told Channel 2 he recorded the video late Saturday night and

The video shows the second person flying through the air on a parachute from the crane at 4th and Spring streets. He began filming after seeing someone else jump moments earlier, the news station reported.

“We figured out there’s another dude behind him climbing the crane, and we’re like, ‘Oh my gosh. We have to get video,’” Oden said. “When he jumped off, he free fell for about 10 to 15 feet and then pulled it.”

According to The Washington Post, BASE jumping consists of parachuting or flying in a wingsuit from a fixed structure or cliff, with BASE standing for building, antenna, span and Earth — the four categories from which one can jump.

In January, two men in Acworth were arrested for BASE jumping off a cell tower, AJC.com previously reported.

Odom said he didn’t call police, but he saw both people land safely, Channel 2 reported.

“So many things could have gone wrong,” Odom said. “Their parachute could have not come out. They could have hit a building. They could have done so many things.”

Atlanta police told the news station that if the jumpers are ever caught, they will face charges. It’s unclear whether they are pursuing the case.
