A nursing home worker in Acworth forged nearly $17,000 in checks intended for a resident’s bills and health expenses and used them for personal use, according to an arrest warrant.

Mary Nelle Foss is out of jail on a $35,000 bond a week after her arrest, according to jail records. Foss faces exploitation of an elderly person, third and fourth degree forgery and theft charges.

Foss worked at the North Star Assisted Living Center and took $16,841 from the resident, according to the warrant.

An employee with the facility confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Foss no longer works there.

Police say they charged a former senior living worker with exploitation of the elderly and more after she stole $16,000 from a resident.
