The owner of a Midtown consignment store is hoping surveillance footage will help police catch the man accused of attacking a store manager, leaving her with gashes in her head and wounds to her arms.

A manager at Lucky Exchange on Ponce de Leon Avenue required 15 staples and five stitches after the man hit her with some type of weapon Friday afternoon, Channel 2 Action News reported. When he entered the store around 12:40 p.m., wearing a hat, surgical mask, gloves and sunglasses, he made small talk with the woman.

In the video obtained by Channel 2, the man first asked about the types of items the store sold, and he asked the manager how she was doing. When she turned her back, the man was shown walking behind the counter. Then the woman screamed.

“I’m fixing to take out some clothes,” the man said in the video. “Don’t move.”

Store owner Sheri Pair said the man made off with some but not all of the cash in the register.

“Someone like him needs to be taken off the streets immediately,” Pair told Channel 2. “He hit her over the head twice, that we know of. She got 15 staples and five stitches. She had defensive wounds on her arms ... It seemed more like he was wanting to inflict harm to her instead of really robbing us.”

The manager ran out of the store after the attack and returned with an Atlanta police officer. Pair is sharing the video with investigators and the public in hopes someone will recognize the alleged robber.
