A good Samaritan has died days after he tried to prevent a car break-in at a metro Atlanta Lowe's parking lot, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Melvin Robinson, 44, died Saturday after he was shot outside the East Point hardware store located off Commerce Drive, the news station reported.
The man’s wife tearfully told Channel 2 her family is devastated by his death.
“He has two sons that he loves,” Terra Robinson said. “They are not going to have a father on Father’s Day. On his birthday. I miss him so much.”

Robinson owned the Body Art and Laser shop in Camp Creek Marketplace. The shop is in the same area where the shooting happened about 2 p.m. Sept. 23.
Investigators previously told Channel 2 that two men were inside their pickup truck when they spotted people trying to break into cars in the parking lot. That’s when gunfire erupted, the news station reported.
Police said the suspects fired at the people in the truck. The victims fired back, officials said.
The suspects fled before police arrived, Channel 2 reported.
One of the victims, who was bleeding, went into the store to get help after the shooting. That caused the store to close, and he was treated inside, Channel 2 reported.
Both victims were taken to a hospital. The other victim is recovering, Channel 2 reported.
The gunmen have not been found.
