The unsolved murder of a Hall County high school student one year ago has authorities again asking the public for assistance.
The body of Hannah Truelove, 16, was found behind the Lake Lanier Club Apartments with multiple stab wounds on Aug. 24, 2012. Hannah’s mother, Mona Harris, said she went missing around 10 p.m. the day before.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are renewing a request for public assistance, emphasizing information regarding a suspected vehicle, according to a release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are interested in a 1990s to early 2000s four-door car, possibly a Dodge or Chevrolet, that was possibly in the area of the scene during the evening hours of Aug. 23, 2012.
“It’s one of those loose ends out there that we’d like to tie up,” Wilbanks said, regarding the vehicle.
The suspected car was light silver with front-end damage, but may have been repaired since, according to police. Investigators believe the occupants of the car may have information regarding the case.
Truelove lived with her mother at the complex and attended Gainesville High School.
“Most of the information that was developed was early on,” said Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
“The investigators’ main concern now is that basically the flow of information has stopped.”
Several of Hannah’s messages on Twitter prior to her death were a concern for authorities, but Wilbanks said no information was gathered from them.
“That was determined to be unfounded,” Wilbanks said. “We believe those to just be casual statements.”
Officials declared her death a homicide, but did not release the cause of death.
“I am haunted by Hannah’s death, as any mother can understand,” Harris said during a press conference in February. “Please help my family by coming forward with your information, even if that information is about your son or daughter.”
Truelove’s father, Jeff, told Channel 2 Action news that he was unaware of any dangers Hannah was in.
“She made no mention of anything to me,” Jeff Truelove said. “But maybe it was one of those things that kids tell to kids.”
Wilbanks said no leads are being pursued at this time.
Anyone with information regarding the case should contact the Hall County CID line at 770-503-3232, or the GBI tip line at 800-597-8477.
