Kyle Taylor was 18, expecting his first child and, according to at least one neighbor, “one of the nicest guys in the neighborhood.”
But Atlanta police said someone shot and killed Taylor during an argument outside a home on Spellman Street about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Karlishia Taylor, the victim’s sister, told police she had just gotten home when her brother left the the northwest Atlanta house and met up with two men.
“There may have been some type of words exchanged,” Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton told Channel 2 Action News. “I’m not sure what it was about, but that’s what we’re going by right now.”
The argument ended in gunfire, and the sister called police, who found her brother lying in the street, a gunshot wound to the head, according to Channel 2. He later died at Grady Memorial Hospital.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses and the baby girl he and his girlfriend are expecting, Channel 2 reported.
“There ain’t even no words to explain how much his family is going to miss him,” Karlishia Taylor told the television station. “When somebody shot him, they didn’t think about other people’s losses, other people’s feelings.”
She said she wants the person behind her brother’s death brought to justice.
“I hope [police] get to the bottom of it and find out who did it because this is my little brother,” Karlishia Taylor said. “It just don’t seem real.”
