Three teenage girls were shot Monday night when an Instagram feud erupted into a brawl at a northeast Atlanta gas station, police said.
Two groups were involved in the fight at the BP station at the corner of Boulevard and Ralph McGill Boulevard in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Investigators identified eight participants, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Shots were fired at some point, and the three young women were struck, Atlanta police Capt. Furdge Turner told the news station from the scene.
A 19-year-old was shot in the leg, another 19-year-old was shot in the torso, and a 17-year-old was shot in the stomach, he said. All three showed up at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, and police were called to the hospital about 10:45 p.m.
Investigators later located the shooting scene at the gas station. Police also responded to a block party in the same area, where the two groups may have argued, Turner said.
“Preliminary information indicates a physical altercation occurred between multiple individuals due to a feud on Instagram,” police spokeswoman Marla Jean Rooker said in a statement. “Witnesses advised a male suspect fled the scene in a silver or gray Nissan truck.”
According to Channel 2, that suspect has been identified but his name is not being released.
An investigation is ongoing.
