A former high school teacher accused of sending a teenager lewd messages was indicted on sex charges, Henry County officials said Thursday.

Ryan Harvey, 24, allegedly sent the 15-year-old sexually charged messages via Snapchat and groped the boy's genitals twice, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Harvey was an orchestra teacher at Woodland High School in Stockbridge at the time.

The boy told school officials the harassment began in September, but the investigation revealed the alleged crimes occurred between July and December of last year, according to a statement from the Henry County District Attorney’s Office.

Harvey was indicted on one count of sexual assault of a student, one count of aggravated child molestation, two counts of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16, and three counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors.

He remains in the Henry County jail without bond.
