A man is in custody in connection with a deadly drive-by shooting in southeast Atlanta.

Justice Gibson was interviewed and taken to the Fulton County Jail on unspecified charges, police said.

When police got to the scene of a parking lot at the intersection of Sawtell Avenue and Jonesboro Road Thursday night, they found a white car riddled with nearly a half-dozen bullets and two people inside. It had crashed into a fence near an area pawn shop.

A teen died after being shot several times, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said. The other person had injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Atlanta police investigators said the shooter intended to kill the pair, but officers don’t know why at this time.

The injured person was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Friday morning. He was cooperating with investigators, according to Channel 2.

The investigation is ongoing.
