Authorities have arrested a 29-year-old man in the shootings of two Clarke County residents in their 60s.

Calvin Louis Brown was taken into custody Friday morning, less than 24 hours after a 60-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man were found shot at a home in the 1400 block of U.S. 29.

Responding officers discovered the two just after 5 p.m. Thursday and began first aid. The woman was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and has since been released, Athens-Clarke County police said. The man, who was shot once, is still being treated for a serious injury at the hospital, according to police.

Brown was tracked to his home on Rolling Ridge Drive and detained. After an investigation, he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery and taken to the Clarke County Jail.

“As the investigation continues, Brown may face additional charges,” police spokesman Geof Gilland said.

The shootings remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael Carroll at 762-400-7098 or Michael.Carroll@accgov.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $1,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 706-705-4775.
