Police made another arrest Friday and are still searching for one more suspect who allegedly shot at DeKalb County officers after a stolen car chase and crash.

A juvenile male, who was not identified, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Earlier, 18-year-old Daniel Ramirez was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

The chase ended on Northlake Parkway in Tucker early Thursday, not far from Northlake Mall. Three people jumped out of the wrecked car, with two of them going one way and one going the other, DeKalb police said. The pair shot at officers, and the officers returned fire, officials said.

No officers were injured, police said. The alleged shooters took off running, setting off an overnight manhunt.

According to police, it all started with a carjacking at the Estuary Ridge Apartments about 12:15 a.m. A taxi driver was robbed of his phone, his wallet and his cab while waiting for a passenger at the apartment complex in the 3200 block of Henderson Mill Road.

The car was spotted by a responding officer as it was traveling down Northlake Parkway, DeKalb police spokesman Sgt. E. McCown said.

“The suspects crashed the vehicle on Northlake Parkway and fled on foot,” McCown said in a statement. “Two officers pursued the suspects into the parking lot of the old Sports Authority building where they received gunfire. Both officers returned fire before the suspects fled into the woods at the rear of the building.”

Ramirez was taken into custody after another officer spotted him at a nearby MARTA stop and noticed he matched one of the suspects’ descriptions, police said.

No details were provided about the juvenile’s arrest.
