Atlanta police officers responded just before 8 p.m. to a Chevron gas station in the 1600 block of Lakewood Avenue.
That’s where they found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head, Officer Stephanie Brown said. He was alert and breathing when he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
A 35-year-old man was discovered in a car about a half mile away at Jonesboro Road and McDonough Boulevard, but by the time officers responded he had flagged down an ambulance and gone to Grady, where he told police he was shot while walking across the street from the Chevron, Brown said.
The men, whose names have not been released, are in stable condition.
An additional call related to the incident was received in the 1500 block of Jonesboro Road, where a bullet went through a home and damaged the property, Brown said. A fourth call was received regarding a crash at the intersection of McWilliams and Jonesboro roads involving a Nissan Versa and a Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Nissan was fleeing the scene at the Chevron gas station and struck the Toyota, Brown said.
The driver stated that she was trying to avoid being shot.
An investigation is ongoing.
