While investigating a shooting, deputies in Conyers arrested four people after they say they found drugs and stolen checks in their car.
Meanwhile, investigators are still looking for the woman they say fired the gun.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Adajia McGinester on aggravated assault charges.
She and several others were at an Airbnb in the 2600 block of Brittany Court in the Martha’s Vineyard subdivision, according to the warrant. Someone allegedly stole $700 from McGinester while she was sleeping.
The warrant said McGinester pointed a handgun at Alexander Kimbrough, who was also staying there, and “fired several rounds at him.” Then, she got in a car and drove away.
Rockdale County sheriff’s deputies were sent to the home just after noon Thursday. The original call was about an alarm, but while a deputy was en route a second caller reported that shots had been fired and that the people involved were leaving the scene in a red SUV, according to an incident report.
Deputies never encountered McGinester or the car she drove away in, but a deputy found the red SUV on Harvest Drive as it was trying to leave the subdivision, the report said.
The deputy flashed his emergency lights to pull over the SUV. The driver kept going for a little while, but eventually pulled over on Ga. 20 near Jimson Drive. Five people were in the vehicle.
The driver, Monica Martinez, was not arrested, but deputies said her 10-month-old who was in the car was found improperly strapped in the vehicle, according to the incident report.
The other four were all arrested.
Kimbrough was charged with multiple felony counts of forgery and a count of obstruction. An arrest warrant said he had an altered check made out to him in the amount of $1,963.71. The warrant said Kimbrough also ran away from police and was armed with a handgun, which he tossed into the woods before being arrested.
Sylvester Mickle, 25, is facing a fugitive of justice charge. An arrest warrant said Mickle is charged with burglary and drug possession in Missouri.
Derrian Thompkins is charged with seven counts of forgery for allegedly possessing a stolen check in the amount of $521.32, according to an arrest warrant.
Deondre Williams, 22, is charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and failure to keep drugs in their original container. According to a warrant, Williams had six Xanax bars and a pill container found in a black bag and confirmed they were his.
An investigation is ongoing.
