Four people with masks ambushed two men as they changed a tire in Midtown, robbed them at gunpoint and shot one of them in the abdomen, police said.

Officers responded to a person shot call shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Rock Springs Road, Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah said in an emailed statement.

The wounded man was on the ground.

The other man told police they stopped to change a tire on his vehicle when another vehicle pulled up with the four masked individuals inside.

After they were robbed, one of the men tried to get inside the robbers’ vehicle, police said. They shot him as they sped away, according to the statement.

The men could not describe the robbers or their vehicle to police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
