A Richmond County deputy was arrested Thursday after allegedly raping a woman who was in police custody, according to multiple media reports.

Kendrick Quick, 38, faces one count of rape and one count of violating his oath of office, Augusta-based WRDW-TV reported.

Authorities at the sheriff’s office told the news station Quick has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the incident.

No other information was released.

Quick began working with the sheriff’s office in July 2018 and was assigned to the department’s road patrol division, the station reported.

He is being held without bond at the Richmond County jail, records show.

In other news:

Since the middle of last year, the state-hired lawyer representing Paulding County District Attorney Dick Donovan had said they'd vigorously defend the allegations.
