The home invasion occurred in broad daylight Saturday in the 100 block of Cloverhurst Avenue, according to Athens-Clarke police spokesman Lt. John Radford.

The 21-year-old victim told police she had gotten home 2 p.m. When she went inside the residence, a man came in behind her and attacked her, Radford said.

“The assault caused her to lose consciousness,” Radford said. “When she awoke, the attacker was gone.”

In a statement, Athens-Clarke police Chief Cleveland Spruill said the department is “using all investigative resources to identify and arrest this offender.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Athens Detective David Harrison at 762-400-7361.
