A man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend while their 1-year-old was nearby is wanted by Gwinnett County police, officials said.

Investigators said Venezia Cole shot the 22-year-old woman in the driveway of a home in unincorporated Snellville on Tuesday afternoon, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera.

Officers were sent to the home on Laurel Bend Court about 3:30 p.m., where the woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds, she said.

A family member told police that the woman’s ex-boyfriend was supposed to be dropping off diapers when the shooting happened, according to Pihera. It is not clear if the child, who was outside, was injured.

After Cole shot the woman, he fired multiple rounds at the home, Pihera said. No one inside the house was injured.

Cole was last seen leaving the area in a black 2009 Infiniti G37, Pihera said. Once captured, he will face three counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, five counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count of first-degree cruelty to children and one count of second-degree criminal damage to property.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300.

Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
