A LaGrange man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, holding a knife to her throat and threatening to kill her before she could call police.

Antonio Marques Sharpe, 42, faces aggravated assault and strong-arm robbery charges after the incident last Thursday, according to a LaGrange police incident report obtained by AJC.com.

About 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the woman’s apartment, which is within the Leyland Pointe Apartments off Laurel Ridge Avenue, the report said. Police arrived to find the woman, who was shaken up from the incident, along with a large chef’s knife.

The woman told officers that Sharpe came through a bedroom window without her permission, and they got into an argument. He’s accused of taking her cellphone from her pocket and placing the large knife against her neck.

As he threatened her with the knife, he said he would kill her before she could escape and call police, the report said. Sharpe then allegedly fled the scene with the victim’s phone.

Authorities found Sharpe later that day and booked him into the Troup County Jail, where he remains without bond, according to jail records.
