The mother and son who were found dead Sunday night inside a Gwinnett County apartment were tortured, police said.

Nicola Sramek, 61, and James Sramek, 29, were victims of blunt-force trauma and stabbing, police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said Wednesday.

Police have said they do not know how long the victims had been dead.

“Police are working with several local and federal law enforcement agencies inside the state of Georgia and outside the state,” Washington said Wednesday. “Our primary objective is to learn more about the victims and identify a motive and potential suspect.”

Police went to the apartment in the 3300 block of Chelsea Park Lane in Norcross about 10 p.m. Sunday to check after a complainant was unable to make contact with family members, authorities said.

There is a $4,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case, Washington said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000 — by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting crimestoppersatlanta.org.
