A Cobb County man is accused of attacking his mother with a meat cleaver, breaking her nose and ribs and cutting her face, according to Powder Springs police.

Terrance Paul Corry, 48, was arrested Sunday night after the alleged assault on six felony charges, including aggravated assault and aggravated battery on a person 65 or older, jail records show. Corry was being held without bond Thursday at the Cobb jail.

“Said accused did strike said victim with a meat cleaver, causing lacerations on said victim's face and the back of her head,” Corry’s arrest warrant states. “Said victim also suffered nasal fractures.”

In addition to receiving numerous cuts, the woman suffered a collapsed lung, fractured bones in her nose and broken ribs, Corry’s warrant states. Corry was also charged with criminal damage for allegedly striking a door frame, kitchen table and chairs, lamps and picture frames with the meat cleaver.

When officers arrived at the Pine Valley Drive home, Corry pulled away from them in an attempt to avoid being handcuffed, his warrant states.

Corry “had to be placed on the ground in order for officers to be able to detain him,” the warrant states.

No information was available Thursday about the woman’s condition.

Court records show Corry was sentenced to 24 months on probation in 2014 on charges of battery, family violence and criminal trespassing. He later violated terms of his probation and was sentenced to six months in jail, records show.

Corry served about five months in state prison in 2009 and 2010 following a theft by taking conviction, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
