An Atlanta man faces a felony charge in Tennessee after being accused of shooting a man several times, critically injuring him.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers found a man in the 1600 block of G Street with several gunshot wounds, police in Kingsport, Tenn., said in a news release. The victim, 36-year-old Jeremy Smallwood of Rogersville, Tenn., remains at a hospital in critical condition.

Investigators detained Tyjuan M. Marsh, 23, of Atlanta, at the scene, identifying him as the suspected shooter. Smallwood is believed to have gotten into an argument with an unnamed third man, leading Marsh to pull out a gun and begin firing, according to the release.

Marsh was charged with aggravated assault and booked into the city’s jail, the release said. He has since been released on a $10,000 bond.

Kingsport is near the Virginia border, about 100 miles northeast of Knoxville.

No other information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
