A Pickens County Junior High teacher was arrested Friday following an investigation into allegations that he solicited inappropriate photos from female students, authorities said.

Gilbert Suarez IV, 38, of Cartersville, turned himself in at the Pickens County Detention Center on four charges of enticing a child for indecent purposes, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The investigation began last Saturday after the sheriff’s office received a complaint, Capt. Kris Stancil told AJC.com.

The Pickens County School Board placed Suarez on administrative leave at the beginning of the criminal investigation, authorities said. During that investigation, deputies determined three students younger than 15 were approached by Suarez and asked for inappropriate photographs, deputies said.

“Fortunately, the incident was reported before any photographs were provided,” authorities said in the news release.

He was released on a $20,000 bond. It was not clear Friday if Suarez is still employed.

The GBI’s Cleveland office is assisting with the investigation, authorities said. Once it is complete, the findings will be turned over to the district attorney’s office for prosecution.
