A Fayetteville man was struck by a car and killed Tuesday night while crossing the street, authorities said.

The fatal crash occurred about 9 p.m. at the intersection of North Jeff Davis and Jefferson Avenue, Fayetteville police said in a Facebook post.

The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Police have not released the name of the driver who hit him or said if any charges are expected. The deadly crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it is asked to contact Lt. Austin Dunn at 770-419-4207.
