Authorities and school officials are taking precautions after an anonymous bomb threat was written in a bathroom at South Paulding High School on Tuesday.

But classes won’t be canceled Wednesday and the school will remain open, Paulding County school district spokeswoman Suzanne Wooley said.

Within minutes of the report, an investigation in coordination with the district office and the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office led to an “extensive sweep of the campus,” Wooley added. “We take any threat to student safety seriously, and you will see an increased law enforcement presence on campus.”

A similar statement was sent to parents of high school students and parents of students at Dugan Elementary, which is next door to South Paulding High.
