A man accused of attacking a police officer with a brick turned himself in Tuesday, authorities said.

About 1 a.m. April 28, an officer responding to a domestic dispute call was attacked, police said.

As Sgt. Kevin Bauer entered the 1200 block of East 13th Street, he was repeatedly assaulted with a brick, while he was still seated in his patrol vehicle, according to a news release.

Bauer was treated at a nearby hospital and released, but no one was immediately arrested in connection with the attack.

Tabious Heard reported to the West Point Police Department to face charges of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer and obstruction.

Heard was booked into the Troup County Jail.
