The teen was about to use an ATM at the SunTrust Bank off Joel Cowan Parkway when a man opened the passenger door to his white car and put a gun to his head, Peachtree City police said. A gray pickup truck was used to pull up next to the teen’s BMW.
Surveillance photos obtained by Channel 2 Action News show the armed man jump into the teen’s passenger seat before two other men also get inside the white BMW. Police briefly chased the stolen vehicle into Coweta County, but the thieves got away. Officers later found the car abandoned in Palmetto.
The owner of the pickup truck, Walter Lee, told Channel 2 the same trio carjacked him at a Burger King in College Park the day before.
On May 22, Lassiter was taken into custody in South Fulton and charged with aggravated assault, hijacking of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said in a prior Facebook post.
As of Friday night, the teen from Jonesboro remained in the Fayette County jail, records show. AJC.com has reached out to the sheriff’s office for more information on his booking.
Trimble was arrested in Panama City and was charged with aggravated assault, hijacking a motor vehicle, fleeing from a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.
He remains in the Bay County, Fla., jail awaiting extradition to Georgia.
The third suspect in these carjacking has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
