State and local officials ended their search Wednesday in Morrow without finding a Buckhead woman who has been missing for 22 years.

Authorities spent much of the day searching a wooded area near Duffy Drive for any hint of Sherri Holland after Morrow police received a tip connected to her disappearance in 1996.

And while three cadaver dogs homed in on a patch of the wooded area — not far from where Holland’s car was found a week after her disappearance — the search failed to yield any results.

“Twenty-two years later, we remain on the quest to provide closure for the family and to this case,” the GBI said in a statement on its Facebook page. Morrow police, Clayton County police, the Clayton County sheriff’s office and four cadaver dogs from South Carolina were also part of the search.

Holland, 34, disappeared Aug. 16, 1996, hours after she left her Flagler Beach, Fla., vacation home to head to Atlanta. Her BMW, which had a flat tire, was found a week later on I-75 North just south of the Morrow exit. A week after that, her dogs were found at a Clayton County apartment complex.

Morrow police Chief James Callaway said the tip, which he personally vetted, indicated the woman’s personal items, including a wallet, were found.

The tipster, Adrian Uribe, told Channel 2 Action News he found the wallet submerged in the creek years ago and found a bag nearby. One of the items contained a Florida driver’s license. He kept the items, but said he didn’t know their significance. He did not say what made him come forward at this time.

Sherri Vanessa Holland disappeared on her way back home to Atlanta from her Florida vacation home.
