A few days after police arrested three 16-year-olds, two other teenagers wanted in connection with an armed home invasion in Cobb County were caught.

Verdeldric Ware, 18, of Marietta, and Jahvon Hammond, 16, were arrested and are accused of barging into the home near Powder Springs to rob a group of teenagers at gunpoint last Tuesday morning, Cobb County police told Channel 2 Action News.

Police arrested three juveniles at the scene, but Ware and Hammond escaped, Cobb police said. The three teenagers arrested at the scene — Sarah Austin, Thomas Poole and America Lesesne — are being charged as adults and remain in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The homeowner, Isabel Lay-Meireles, previously told Channel 2 her son had friends over last Monday night to play video games, but she didn’t know any girls were coming over. Austin and Lesesne were hanging out with the group while Lay-Meireles and her husband slept.

However, three people walked in on the group of teens while holding a gun, and they demanded an iPhone and Gucci wallet from the group, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the news station.

Lay-Meireles’ son wasn’t in the room during the robbery, but he ran and woke up his sleeping parents after hearing the commotion, Channel 2 reported.

“I just heard robbery, guns, and I jumped out of the bed,” she said. “And I just ran outside. I was calling 911.”

Lay-Meireles believes the two teen girls were planted there to help set up the armed robbery.

Ware was arrested Friday, and he remains in jail without bond, records show. No details on his arrest have been released.

Police confirmed Tuesday that Hammond has also been arrested and booked in jail. He is also being charged as an adult.

The five suspects all face charges of first-degree burglary-home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated assault, according to jail records.
